MONDAY MOTIVATION & MEDITATION – Earth Laughs
Earth laughs in flowers. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote is taken from a line in Emerson’s Hamatreya – a poem that Emerson wrote in the mid-1800’s.
As explained by The Pilgrimage of the Heart of Yoga, “Emerson guides us to see the futility in our boasting and pride and points towards an awareness of the cycle of life. Earth is given a voice in this poem. This awareness of earth’s living relationship to each of us is essential for any meaningful discussion of humankind’s relationship to nature.”
Ultimately, the Earth laughs at our vain and futile belief in land possession that we can not control against Mother Nature.
Instead, I urge us to find the beauty and love Earth offers. If we treat her kindly, she will smile on us in gratitude and be our heart guide. Spread the lesson and share with someone you love. 🙂
