Chicago’s International Home + Housewares Show concluded last week with an emphasis on bright colors, 1950s inspired design aesthetic, and practical tools to simplify food preparation. Also on display were a variety of useful and innovative eco-friendly products. Here are the k.o. kidz picks for the ‘Best in Show’ green products (all Made in the USA!):

Fridge Coasters were featured in the 2014 Better Homes and Gardens Innovation issue. These fridge liners absorb drips and spills and can be wiped clean without swelling or distortion to provide airflow. Made to fit most U.S. refrigerators with a cleaver perforated design to create a “custom” fit.
The product is similar to a corrugated box with colorful decorative patterned designs made of 40% post-consumer waste and printed with vegetable inks. Coasters typically last 4 to 6 months and can then be used as compost. Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Company institutes sustainable production practices by purchasing overruns and errors from retail case box producers and recycling scraps to use as packaging fill.
